Chelsea To Hijack Liverpool’s Move For Highly-Rated Defender?
Chelsea are weighing-up a move for highly-rated Sporting Lisbon centre-back Tiago Llori who’s already attracted two bids from rivals Liverpool this summer.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Chelsea are linked with Liverpool target Tiago Ilori.
Chelsea are weighing-up a move for highly-rated Sporting Lisbon centre-back Tiago Llori who’s already attracted two bids from Liverpool this summer, according to the Mirror.
The report claims the Reds have been deep in negotiations with Lisbon for weeks over the defenders signature but have so far seen two formal offers knocked-back with the Portuguese outfit holding out for around £8.5m for the youngster.
While the club have already brought in experienced defender Kolo Toure this summer, Brendan Rodgers is keen to find a long-term replacement for the retired Jamie Carragher and Llori appears to be the Northern Irishman’s number one target.
However, the Merseysiders could now face stiff competition from Premier League rivals Chelsea with the Mirror suggesting new boss Jose Mourinho is also a huge admirer of Llori’s and is lining-up an offer of his own for the 20-year-old.
While the Blues may have more financial clout, one thing that could go in Liverpool’s favour is the fact that they would be able to offer the youngster more first team opportunities, with the report suggesting Llori is keen to make a move to a club that will offer him regular action.
