Ivanovic Ready To Snub £8m PSG Move And Sign New Blues Deal
Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic is ready to turn down a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain and sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, according to reports.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, PSG target Chelsea’s Branislav Ivanovic.
Branislav Ivanovic is ready to turn down a big-money move to Paris Saint-Germain and sign a new contract at Stamford Bridge, according to the Daily Mail.
Reports claim the big-spending French outfit were lining up an opening bid of £8million and were prepared to offer the versatile defender a four-year contract which would include a huge increase on his current wage.
New coach Laurent Blanc is understood to be eyeing Ivanovic as the ideal replacement for Gregory van der Wiel, who’s set to join Inter Milan, and he likes the fact he can play at both right-back of centre-half.
However, the Mail claim the 29-year-old is ready to reject PSG’s advances and commit his future to Chelsea by signing a new long-term contract at Stamford Bridge.
Ivanovic has been superb at the back for the Blues since arriving from Lokomotiv Moscow in 2008, not only showing his defensive qualities but he has also proved a threat at the other end with 22 goals in 219 appearances so far.
It remains to be seen how he fits in to Jose Mournho’s plans for next season but it appears Ivanovic wants to stay in west London rather than make the switch to Ligue 1 this summer.
