Man Utd May Use Hernandez As Bait To Land Gareth Bale As Madrid’s Pursuit Falters
Man Utd will renew their interest in Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and may use Javier Hernandez as bait to land the attacker with Real Madrid’s pursuit stalling.
With the summer transfer window now open, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Man Utd enter the chase for Gareth Bale.
Manchester United are ready to renew their interest in Tottenham’s Gareth Bale and may use Javier Hernandez as bait to try and land the attacker with Real Madrid’s pursuit stalling, according to the Independent.
The Spaniard’s have been locked in talks with Spurs for weeks but have been unable to agree a fee with president Florentino Perez saying last week that the quoted €100m price-tag was too expensive. The report suggests that the north Londoners have become frustrated at the lack of progress and chairman Daniel Levy is now wondering whether the La Liga outfit have the funds available to complete a world record deal.
It seems United may be ready to take advantage of the deadlock with new boss David Moyes keen to bring in a marquee name to appease worried fans following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson but has so far been unable to land targets such as Thiago Alcantara or Cesc Fabregas this summer.
The Independent claim that the champions will now renew their interest in Bale this week and while the huge asking price is likely to make any transfer increasingly difficult, Moyes may be willing to use Javier Hernandez as bait to not only lower to outlay but also tempt Spurs to the negotiating table with Andre Villas-Boas though to be a fan of the Mexican’s.
United and Tottenham have previous with Michael Carrick and Dimitar Berbatov both making the move to Old Trafford in recent years so the Manchester giants will know exactly how tough a negotiator Levy is.
Whether Spurs will be willing to sell their star man to a domestic rival remains to be seen but it would certainly be a sensational coup if United could pull it off.
