United Ready To Table Improved £35m Bid For Everton Duo
Champions Manchester United are ready to go back to Everton with an improved £35m double bid for midfielder Marouane Fellaini and left-back Leighton Baines.
With the summer transfer window in full swing, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United are ready to increase their offer for Fellaini and Baines.
Manchester United are ready to go back to Everton with an improved £35m double bid for midfielder Marouane Fellaini and left-back Leighton Baines, according to the Daily Mail.
The champions had a £28m bid rejected on Monday with the Toffees describing the offer for their two star players as ‘derisory and insulting’, with tensions between the two clubs understood to be strained. The Merseysiders are determined not to sell to their former boss on the cheap but David Moyes is keen to add to his squad before the deadline and has asked the club to go back in with an improved bid.
The Mail claim United will now submit a £35m offer – which is far closer to the £40m Everton are believed to have set at the minimum they would accept for the duo – but it remains to be seen whether Bill Kenwright will accept the new offer or drag the saga out into the final days of the transfer window.
The newspaper suggests the deal breaks down as £15m for Baines and £20m for Fellaini, which on the face of it still seems cheap for players of their quality in today’s market, so United may have to dig a little deeper if they want to take the pair to Old Trafford this month.
