The first big clash of the new Premier League season takes place tonight as Manchester United welcome Chelsea to Old Trafford.
The match will mark David Moyes’ first game in charge in front of his home supporters and the Scot will be hoping to strike an early blow to Chelsea in the title race.
United strolled to their 20th league title last season but with Sir Alex Ferguson retiring and Jose Mourinho returning to the hot seat at Stamford Bridge, this season promises to be a much closer affair.
The defending champions got off to an excellent start after beating Swansea 4-1 last weekend with strikers Robin van Persie and Danny Welbeck both bagging braces, so Moyes will be hoping for more of the same tonight.
However, Chelsea are already setting the pace after victories over Hull City and Aston Villa left them leading the hosts by three points and the gap could be extended to six if the Blues manage to leave Manchester with a win this evening.
Team News
David Moyes has hinted that Wayne Rooney may be recalled to the starting eleven after coming off the bench to set up two goals last weekend. The striker is unsettled at Old Trafford and has been targetted by todays opposition, but after getting another full weeks training under his belt it looks as though he will start against his suitors tonight.
United will have to make do without the services of Rafael after the Brazilian was ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring problem. Nani, Ashley Young and Javier Hernandez are also out.
Chelsea will be without David Luiz as the defender continues to nurse a hamstring problem, but he could be back to face Bayern Munich in the UEFA Super Cup on Friday.
Mourinho is expected to rotate his strike-force once again with Romelu Lukaku expected to start ahead of Fernando Torres and Demba Ba.

As a blue fan i would like chelsea to line-up like this;cech,ivanovic,Azpilicueta,cahill,cole,Ramires,lampard,mata,oscar,Hazard and Torres infront.p/z defenders have close eyes on van persie,don’t give time and space and cut off all the sources to him.man united always hate ground ball,play ground and their central defenders are very old and heavy pass them with one- two pass.avoid unnecessary crosses, they are good at clearing.man u also like playing deep and taking counter attacks so i argue chelsea to defend at once and take counter attacks when necessary.

My own preferred line up cech, ivanovic,cahill, terry, cole,mikel-ramires,hazard-mata-debrune, lukaku then half time oscar for debrume torres or ba for lukaku essien for ramires I think that’s the best formation to use. Blues for life.
