Latest transfer rumours. Manchester United have tabled a fresh £38m double bid for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Mirror.
As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, Manchester United have made a fresh £38m bid for Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines.
Manchester United have tabled a fresh £38m double bid for Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines, according to the Mirror.
The champions have been linked with the pair for much of the summer and had a £28m double bid rejected earlier this month, with Baines understood to be valued at £12m and Fellaini at just £16m – which was less than the midfielders £23m buy-out clause that expired at the end of July.
Everton felt United’s opening offer was ‘insulting and derisory’ but the Mirror claim that Moyes has now gone back in with an improved £38m bid in the hope that it will finally persuade the Toffees to sell.
The newspaper suggests that while boss Roberto Martinez is furious with their latest offer and insists Baines wont be sold, the club are yet to reject the double bid and they are demanding a breakdown of what United value each player at this time as the Merseysiders are prepared to sell Fellaini for £25m.
It remains to be seen whether United will be prepared to pay that figure when they could have signed the 25-year-old for less last month, but with just four days to go until the transfer window closes, time is running out for Moyes to add quality to his squad.
Everton are already eyeing the Belgian’s replacement with the report suggesting Martinez has contacted former club contacted Wigan about James McCarthy but has been told it will take £15m to last the promising youngster.
