United Expected To Trigger €36m Release Clause As Moyes Eyes Late Spending Spree
Man Utd are ready to submit an improved €36m bid to trigger Atletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera’s release clause as David Mpyes eyes a late spending spree.
As we enter the final stages of the summer transfer window, there is plenty of gossip doing the rounds in the newspapers so we’ll keep you up-to-date with the latest transfer rumours. Today, David Moyes is ready to make a late push in the transfer market.
Manchester United are ready to submit an improved €36 million (£30.7 million) bid to trigger Atletic Bilbao midfielder Ander Herrera’s release clause as David Moyes eyes a late spending spree, according to the Telegraph.
Moyes has endured a frustrating summer since taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson that’s seen him miss out on a number of targets, but it seems he’s gearing up for a late spree starting with Herrera.
Reports on Friday claimed that United had seen a €30m bid for the 24-year-old Spanish U-20 midfielder rejected by Bilbao with the La Liga outfit insisting any club would have to meet the players release fee if they wanted to buy him this summer.
Bilbao club president Jose Urrutia confirmed a bid had been received but insists they will not negotiate.
‘There is an offer for Ander Herrera. We received it yesterday and we have informed that we will not negotiate for our players.
‘Our club is different. We create an emotional bond. Our objective is not to make money. For that a player should leave he needs to state his intentions to leave the club and pay the buyout clause.’ Urrutia is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail
However, the Telegraph are claiming today that United will now go back in with a fresh €36 million (£30.7 million) offer which will active his release clause and the club will be free to talk with the player.
The box-to-box midfielder is not the only target for Moyes with the newspaper suggesting he is targetting up to three new players before the transfer window closes on Monday night, with Roma’s Danielle De Rossi and Everton duo Marouane Fellaini and Leighton Baines also on his radar.
A deal for De Rossi is seen as the most problematic with the 30-year-old understood to be reluctant to leave his boyhood club, but the report claims Moyes is confident he can bring in Herrera, Fellaini and team-mate Baines over the next few days.
