Nigerian youngster Semi Ajayi has revealed on Twitter that he’s signed a two-year contract with Arsenal after being released by Charlton Athletic this summer.
Despite the summer transfer window being closed there is still plenty of gossip in the newspapers, so we’ll keep you up to date on all the latest transfer news. Today, Arsenal have signed free agent Semi Ajayi.
Nigerian youngster Semi Ajayi has revealed he’s signed a two-year contract with Arsenal after being released by Charlton Athletic.
The transfer window may have closed but clubs are still able to sign free agents and 19-year-old Ajayi has been on the market since Charlton terminated the final year of his contract back in June after 10 years at the club.
The young centre-back, who spent a season on loan at non-league Dartford last season, had a short spell with Norwich City during pre-season before being handed a trial with the Gunners.
He impressed during his debut for the under-21’s, scoring against Blackburn and has helped the reserve side keen two consecutive clean sheets.
It seem the Arsenal coaching staff have seen enough potential in him to sign him up on a permanent basis, with the Nigerian under-20 international revealing on Twitter that he’s signed a two-year contract at the Emirates.
Delighted to announce that I have officially signed for @Arsenal FC. Can't wait to see what the next two seasons here have in store for me.

Arsenal are yet to officially confirm the deal but Ajayi has been turning out for the under-21’s in recent weeks and is clearly making an impression, and the boyhood Arsenal fan is reportedly keen to emulate his hero Tony Adams by becoming a legend with the Gunners.
