Moyes Set To Bid For French Defender But Chelsea & Liverpool Also Keen
Man Utd are expected to launch a January bid to try and sign Saint Etienne defender Kurt Zouma but could face competition from rivals Chelsea and Liverpool.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Man Utd, Chelsea and Liverpool are linked with Kurt Zouma.
Manchester United are expected to launch a January bid to try and sign Saint Etienne defender Kurt Zouma but could face competition from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool, according to the Express.
Zouma has been hugely impressive at the heart of Saint Etienne’s defence since breaking in to the first team in 2011 and has represented France at every youth level with a senior cap not thought to be too far away.
His form has seen him linked with several top clubs throughout Europe and the Express claim that Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Juventus, Monaco and Bayer Leverkusen are all among the 18-year-old’s admirers.
However, it’s the Premier League champions who are thought to hold the most serious interest with the newspaper suggesting that David Moyes is determined to bring the youngster to Old Trafford and will test Les Verts resolve with a a bid when the transfer window re-opens in January.
Saint Etienne are adamant they are under no pressure to sell their prized asset having already sold Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Josuha Guilavogui for sizable fees in the summer, but the feeling is the Lique 1 outfit would find it difficult to turn down a large offer this winter.
With Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic coming to the end of their illustrious careers, it’s no wonder Moyes is planning for the future and Zouma would benefit hugely from learning from the experienced duo if he did make the move to Manchester this winter.
But should Saint Etienne decide to sell, it seems United will face stiff competition for his signature and the Express suggest it will take a bid of around £7m to land the imposing centre-half.
