Agent: Premier League Club To Bid £43m For Madrid Hitman
A FIFA agent has claimed that a ‘very important’ Premier League club will launch a £43m bid for Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United target Karim Benzema.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, which Premier League club will bid £43m for Benzema?
A FIFA agent has claimed that a ‘very important’ Premier League club will launch a £43m bid for Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in January with Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United all linked with the player in recent months, according to the Daily Star.
The France striker has been at the Bernabeu for over four years but has struggled for form so far this season, scoring just two goals in nine games, leading to him being jeered by his own fans on several occasions.
Arsenal were linked with a move in the summer before eventually signing former team mate Mesut Ozil and the newspapers were once again linking the Gunners with the 25-year-old last week with Madrid believed to be ready to cash in to raise funds for a move for Luis Suarez.
The Star suggests that Chelsea and Manchester United are also interested in Benzema and now agent Francois Gallardo has claimed that a big English club will look to sign the former Lyon striker for €50m [£43] in January.
“A very important Premier League club is after Karim,”
“This club wants the transfer to happen this winter, but if this is not possible, then next summer at the latest.
“The offer will be around €50m.” Gallardo is quoted as saying by the Star
While Gallardo refused to name the interested party, Arsenal do appear to be the most likely buyers. The north Londoners are desperately short of cover up front with Olivier Giroud the only main striker on the books at present.
Nicklas Bendtner has been given another chance but only as a last resort because the club failed to bring in another forward in the summer, so it would make sense if Arsene Wenger was on the look-out for a player of Benzema’s quality this winter.
The Frenchman has already admitted he will invest heavily when the transfer window re-opens in January if he feels it necessary, telling the clubs official website:
“If they are needed, then yes. If it’s just for marketing reasons, then no. But for football reasons, why not.”
“It’s a big responsibility to spend that amount of money. But I feel comfortable with it because we had the money to do it.
“Before we couldn’t have done it because we didn’t have the money available. It’s as simple as that.”
You can never discount the likes of Chelsea or United being interested in world class players, but if I was a betting man I’d say it was the Gunners who Gallardo was speaking about.
