Lewandowski Set For Bargain £7m Move?
Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell striker Robert Lewandowski to either Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United for just £7m in January, according to reports.
Although the summer transfer window is officially closed that doesn’t stop clubs working hard behind the scenes to prepare for future signings, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest gossip. Today, Rpbert Lewandowski is linked with a £7m move to England.
Borussia Dortmund are ready to sell star striker Robert Lewandowski to either Arsenal, Chelsea or Manchester United for just £7million in January, according to the Express.
The Polish hitman is in the final year of his contract and will be able to discuss a free transfer summer move with foreign clubs as of January 1st.
Until now, Lewandowski has been widely tipped to move to Dortmund’s great rivals Bayern Munich but he’d have to wait until the summer to sign any agreement with them – although he did state earlier this month that no verbal agreement was in place with the European champions as yet and even hinted he’d like to try his luck in England.
‘I will be able to sign a contract (with any club) in January, but I have never said that I will sign a contract with Bayern,’
‘It was a misunderstanding. It is true I had an opportunity to speak with Sir Alex Ferguson (last year), but we didn’t mention the transfer.
‘One day I would like to play in Premier League. It would be a great experience.’ Lewandowski is quoted as saying by the Daily Mail
The Express are one of several media outlets who are claiming today that Dortmund are so desperate for the striker not to join Munich that they are ready to sell him to one of the Premier League’s big-guns this winter for a bargain £7million.
If one of Arsenal, Chelsea or United were able to snap him up at that price, it would represent an absolute steal as Lewandowski is one of the hottest properties in Europe right now. The striker is still just 25, so has his best years ahead of him and his four-goal haul against Real Madrid in last seasons Champions League semi final was one of the best individual display’s in recent memory.
However, if these reports are accurate and Dortmund are ready to cash in, I’m sure there would be huge interest in the player, not just from the Premier League but also from Spain and Italy, so it’s not going to be easy to lure him to England.
