Liverpool are away at Hull City this Sunday looking to close the gap at the top of the Premier League.
The Reds go into the weekend action sitting second in the table but could find themselves seven points adrift of leaders Arsenal by the time they kick off, so victory over the Tigers is vital to keep the pace.
Ahead of the game, boss Brendan Rodgers has been in front of the media at his weekly press conference and gave Liverpoolfc.com a team news update including the latest on the fitness of striker Daniel Sturridge.
The 24-year-old was only deemed fit enough for a place on the bench last Saturday against Everton, but came on to rescue a point at Goodison Park with the equaliser in the final minute.
Rodgers was quizzed about the strikers fitness today and the Northern Irishman revealed that Sturridge has trained ‘exceptionally well’ and could therefore be restored to the starting line-up this Sunday. He told the clubs official website:
“He has certainly trained very hard this week, we’ve got another day to go to prepare and see where all the players are at.
“I like to give all the players every chance to show that they can be in the team. He has worked exceptionally well and, when he does that, his quality is there for everyone to see.”
The Liverpool boss was also asked if he had any other injury concerns to contend with, to which he replied:
“Nothing at this moment,” he responded.
So it looks like the Merseysiders will head to Hull in good health as they seek a victory to keep them well in this years title race.
