Tottenham Hotspur welcome Liverpool to White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon with both sides looking to give their title chances a major boost.
Spurs head into the game sitting eight points behind leaders Arsenal following the Gunners defeat to Manchester City, so could cut the gap on their north London rivals to just five points with a win tomorrow.
Andre Villas-Boas men have been quietly going about their business in recent weeks, with back-to-back away victories over Sunderland and Fulham extending their unbeaten run to five games.
Tottenham warmed up for the game with a comfortable 4-1 win over Anzhi Makhachkala on Thursday night to complete the group stages with a 100% record, so should be full of confidence this Sunday.
Liverpool on the other hand will be looking to cut Arsenal’s lead to just two points with a 4-1 win over West Ham following a 5-1 thrashing of Norwich to keep the Reds title hopes alive.
However, while their form at Anfield is impressive, Brendan Rodgers men have struggled somewhat away from home, picking up just two points from their last four on the road, so they will be looking to end that run this weekend.
Team News
Villas-Boas is expected to recall a number of players who were rested in midweek. The likes of Hugo Lloris, Kyle Walker, Michael Dawson, Paulinho, Sandro and Aaron Lennon should all return to the starting eleven.
Danny Rose made his return to action on Thursday following a three month spell on the sidelines with a foot injury and came through the game unscathed so could keep his place at left-back with Jan Vertonghen out with an ankle injury.
Christian Eriksen also returned in midweek but is likely to be among the subs while Vlad Chiriches is expected to shake off a knock to start at the back. Roberto Soldado will hope to keep his place up front after scoring a hat-trick in midweek.
Liverpool have been dealt a huge blow with captain Steven Gerrard ruled out for up to six weeks with a hamstring injury. Joe Allen is likely to come in alongside Lucas Leiva in midfield.
Jordan Henderson is expected to be fit so should keep his place on the right, while Luis Suarez will continue in attack with Daniel Sturridge still nursing an ankle injury.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Luis Suarez: Who else? The Uruguayan is in sensational form and there’s no doubt he’s the man Spurs will have to keep quiet if they want to win the game.
Betting & Predicted Score
Our top betting tip is to back over 2.5 goals. Spurs v Liverpool is usually an entertaining game with plenty of goals and we can see this being the case once again this weekend. Also, if you’re shrewd enough to have picked up any UK free bets, we’d stick it on a 2-2 draw. Suarez is on fire and Spurs will have to be at their best to stop him but it’s going to be difficult given the home sides injuries at the back, so we can see the visitors getting on the score-sheet. However, Tottenham are also a threat going forward so they too should find a way past the Reds back-line. It’s going to be an intruding game but one that we feel will end in a draw: Spurs 2-2 Liverpool
