Agent Hints At Arsenal Interest In Swiss Defender But Man Utd Also Keen
The agent of a Swiss defender has hinted that Arsenal have been in contact over a potential move to the Emirates while Man Utd are also said to be interested.

The agent of Fabian Schar has hinted that Arsenal have already been in contact about a potential move to the Emirates but Manchester United are also in the running for the Basel defender, according to the Daily Star.
Schar has been hugely impressive at the heart of Basel’s defence since joining the club 18 months ago and helped guide them to the Swiss title last season as well as home and away victories over Chelsea in the Champions League this campaign.
It appears his form hasn’t gone unnoticed in the Premier League with the Star claiming that Arsenal and Manchester United are keen on luring the 21-year-old to England – although Arsene Wenger is believed to hold the most serious interest.
The defenders agent, Dimitrios Papadopoulos, has now responded to reports linking his client with a move to the Emirates by hinting that the Gunners are one of a number of English clubs who have been in contact to formalise their interest. However, they will face stiff competition from clubs in Italy and Germany. He said:
“He is happy at Basle, where there is a great atmosphere within the club,’
“Arsenal? I can confirm we have had contact with English clubs who want to sign him.
“There is also interest from Italian and German clubs, but we have more contact from England.” Papadopoulos is quoted as saying by the Star
Arsenal have just three senior central defenders in the squad so Wenger may be looking to bring Schar in as a long-term option at the back to eventually succeed the likes of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny. United could also be in the market for an up-and-coming centre-back with both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand coming to the end of their illustrious careers, and Schar would be an excellent addition for either club
