Mata Due To Arrive By Helicopter To Complete United Medical Ahead Of £37m Move

By on January 23, 2014

With the January transfer window in full flow clubs are working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Juan Mata will arrive in Manchester today to complete £37m move.

Chelsea's Juan Mata

Chelsea’s Juan Mata is due to arrive in Manchester via helicopter within the next few hours to undergo a medical and complete his £37m to United, according to the Daily Mail.

After a whirlwind few days the newspaper claims the 25-year-old has said his goodbyes to Chelsea team mates and is set to travel from Battersea in south London to United’s Carrington training base on Thursday.

A temporary helicopter landing pad has apparently been put in place for his arrival and once safely on the ground, Mata will then be shown around United’s training facilities before meeting David Moyes and undergoing a medical.

This news comes after Chelsea and United agreed a £37m deal for the playmaker and Jose Mourinho signed the deal off allowing Mata to end a frustrating few months at Stamford Bridge for a new start in Manchester.

If the proposed moves goes through without trouble, then it will easily be the biggest deal of the winter transfer window so far and Mata’s arrival will come as a welcome boost to the champions after their season slumped to a new low last night following their dramatic Capital One Cup exit to Sunderland.

The Mail claim that Mata is expected to train with his new team mates on Friday afternoon and as United are already knocked out of the FA Cup and don’t have a game this weekend, the Spaniard should be in contention to make his debut against Cardiff at Old Trafford next Tuesday.

I’m sure United fans are eager to see the playmaker in a United shirt and with Wayne Rooney and Robin van Persie expected back from injury soon, the Red Devils will look like a completely different side soon and they must surely now be considered favourites to finish in the top-four ahead of the likes of Liverpool and Spurs.

He is a great player but let’s not get carried away United’s problems are greater than any 1 player and it’s still not 100% that any of their other targets will be available in January. Still need 3 or 4 quality player’s and the wage bill freed up.
