Moyes Met With Toni Kroos’ Agent Last Week Ahead Of Potential £25m Move
David Moyes met with the agent of Toni Kroos last week and a £25m move could be on the cards after Pep Guardiola admitted he could leave before this month.
With the January transfer window entering it’s final stages clubs are working hard to try and strengthen their squad for the second half of the season, so we’ll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, Man Utd boss David Moyes met with the agent of Toni Kroos.
Manchester United boss David Moyes met with the agent of midfielder Toni Kroos last week and a £25m move could be on the cards after Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardlia admitted he could leave before tomorrow’s deadline, according to reports today.
Despite splashing out £37m on record signing Juan Mata last week, David Moyes is believed to still be on the look-out for further reinforcements and reports have suggested he has his eye on Bayern’s contract rebel, Kroos.
The 24-year-old has just 18 months left on his current contract at the Allianz Arena and the Daily Mail claim that talks have stalled over the players £150,000-a-week demands, leading to rumours he could be on the move.
The speculation intensified last night after Kroos reacted badly to being substituted in the 60th minute during Bayern’s 2-1 win over Stuttgart and after the game boss Guardiola hinted the midfielder may leave the club, saying:
“He [Kroos] is an important player, but things can move fast in football.
“Here today, gone tomorrow.” [source: Mirror]
This is the clearest signal yet that Guardiola may be prepared to cash in on the disgruntled star and it appears a move to the Premier League could now be on the cards.
United boss David Moyes was spotted in the stands during Bayern’s game with Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday night and the Daily Mail are now claiming that he met with one of Kroos’ agents, Sascha Breese, at the stadium and sat beside him throughout the match.
The newspaper suggests that United may now bring forward plans to try and sign Kroos from the summer and launch a late bid for the midfielder this month, with Bayern understood to value him in the region of £25m.
That figure sounds like an excellent deal in today’s market when you consider his experience and potential, and he’d certainly fill a huge void in the centre of the park at Old Trafford if they were successful in securing a deal before tomorrow nights deadline.
Midfield has been an area of concern for United fans this season with Michael Carrick struggling with injuries, Marouane Fellaini also hampered by injury and a loss of form while Tom Cleverley is inconsistent at best, so the addition of someone like Kroos would be a massive boost to the Premier League champions as they look to get back into the top-four during the second half of the season.
