Man Utd Bracing Themselves For Mammoth €48m Bid
Manchester United are bracing themselves for a mammoth €48m offer from big-spending French champions Paris Saint German for exciting youngster Adnan Januzaj.
The January transfer window may have slammed shut but clubs will still be working hard behind the scenes at identifying targets for the summer, so we’ll bring you all the latest news, gossip and rumours. Today, PSG prepare huge bid for Adnan Januzaj.
Manchester United are bracing themselves for a mammoth €48m (£40m) bid from Paris Saint Germain for exciting attacker Adnan Januzaj, according to the Daily Star.
The 19-year-old has become one of the most highly-rated youngsters in European football after breaking into the United first team set-up this season and he burst onto the scene with a spectacular brace against Sunderland in early October last year.
His impressive form has not only seen him rewarded with a new long-term contract at Old Trafford worth £30,000-a-week, but it’s also drawn admirers from across the channel.
The Star claim that big-spending PSG saw an audacious £15m bid for the young attacker rejected during the January transfer window but it appears the Ligue 1 champions are refusing to drop their interest despite being told by chief executive Ed Woodward that Januzaj was not for sale.
The newspaper suggests that PSG boss Laurent Blanc is determined to lure the teenager to France and will come back in and test United’s resolve with a sensational €48m (£40m) improved offer this summer as well as tempt Januzaj with a bumper contract worth £100,000-a-week.
PSG’s interest will certainly be unwelcome by boss David Moyes, who is desperately trying to salvage what’s been a disappointing first season in charge. The defending champions currently sit down in seventh place and have all-but given up hope of retaining their title this season.
While they have been relatively impressive in Europe, the Red Devils have already been knocked out of both domestic cup competitions and their dramatic fall from grace could leave them vulnerable to having their star players poached – particularly if they miss out on a top-four finish.
It would be a disaster for United to lose a talent like Januzaj at the end of the season. The youngster has been a rare shining light for United and is seen as the future of the club, but it would be a very tempting offer for the clubs hierarchy should PSG follow-up with a £40m offer.
