Liverpool take on Fulham at Craven Cottage tonight looking to cement their place int he top four of the Premier League table.

The Reds currently sit three points clear of fifth-placed Tottenham and not only will the Merseysiders hope to extend that advantage, but they will also look to close the gap on those above them with third-placed Manchester City just four points ahead.

Brendan Rodgers men put in a 5-star display to beat Arsenal at Anfield on Saturday and the Northern Irishman will be looking for a repeat performance this evening to boost their chances of securing Champions League qualification.

However, Fulham will be full of confidence following their last gasp draw at Old Trafford on Sunday, with a stoppage time header from Darren Bent earning a 2-2 draw against Manchester United.

Despite the morale-boosting result, the Cottagers remain bottom of the Premier League table but can climb above Cardiff City if they can pick up their first victory since New Year’s Day tonight.

Team News

Fulham’s deadline day signing Kostas Mitroglou will have to wait to make his debut as a niggling knee injury keeps him on the sidelines. This could mean Darren Bent starts up front having been among the substitutes on Sunday.

Rene Meulensteen also left Brede Hangeland, Scott Parker and Damien Duff out of his starting eleven at the weekend and the trio are expected to return tonight, but defender Fernando Amorebieta continues to nurse a knee injury.

Liverpool have been boosted by the return of Daniel Agger and Glen Johnson after the duo returned to full training this week. However, Rodgers could resist the temptation to bring them straight back in after such lengthy injuries, and he’s expected to name an un-changed team from Saturday.

Midfielder Lucas Leiva remains out with a knee injury and he’s joined on the sidelines by Mamadou Sakho and Jose Enrique, who are also still working their way back to full fitness following hamstring and knee injuries respectively.

Luis Suarez: The Uruguayan wasn’t on the score-sheet against the Gunners on Saturday but he was still instrumental in their victory and he’ll no doubt be the key man again tonight. His link-up play with Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and Raheem Sterling has been sensational in recent weeks.
