Tottenham Team News: Spurs Set To Be Without Eight Players For WBA Game

Tottenham Hotspur take on West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns on Saturday afternoon looking to keep their hopes of a top four finish alive.
Ahead of the game, Tim Sherwood has been speaking at his pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon and gave reporters a team news and injury update.
The Spurs boss confirmed that none of his injured stars will be back in time to make the trip to the Midlands meaning Mousa Demble, Jan Vertonghen, Michael Dawson, Kyle Walker, Roberto Soldado, Etienne Capoue and Erik Lamela all remained sidelined.
Sherwood also confirmed to TottenhamHotspur.com that midfielder Sandro is a doubt for the game after picking up a calf problem during training on Thursday, so he’s set to be without EIGHT first team squad players for the game.
The Tottenham coach did reveal that striker Soldado is close to making a comeback after returning to training following a hamstring injury, but the West Brom clash will come too soon. He said:
“No-one’s coming back,
“It’s Soldado’s second day training today but he got carried off at Liverpool so I’m surprised he is back so quick.
“I’m pleased but we can’t rush him back after a hamstring injury as it is liable to go again so we have to be careful with that one.” Sherwood is quoted as saying by London24.
Sherwood was pressed for more information on the fitness of right-back Walker, who has missed the last five games with a pelvic injury, but the Spurs boss hopes to have him back soon and doesn’t think his World Cup hopes are in doubt.
“I’m not sure if he’s concerned at that length. We’re concerned immediately because he’s not fit and probably it’s very doubtful if he’d be fit for next week as well – but we’re hoping to see him out there on the training field as soon as possible.
“He’s still got a lot of time before the World Cup and there’ll be a few friendlies for England as well. Kyle is one of the best right-backs and I’m sure he’ll be on that plane even if he doesn’t make an appearance for Tottenham by the end of the season.” Sherwood is quoted as saying by London24.
Tottenham head into the weekend action sitting sixth after Monday’s 5-1 win over Sunderland at White Hart Lane and can move to within two points of fourth-placed Arsenal with a win at the Hawthorns on Saturday.
