Rodgers Edges Ahead Of Arsenal + Man Utd In Race For €24m Attacker
Liverpool have edged ahead of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race to sign £20m-rated Fiorentina attacker Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are the new favourites to sign Juan Guillermo Cuadrado.
Liverpool have edged ahead of Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham in the race to sign €24m (£20m) rated Fiorentina attacker Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, according to the Daily Star.
The 25-year-old winger has been in excellent form for Fiorentina since joining from Lecce in 2012, and has 11 goals to his name in his 38 appearances so far this season.
His impressive displays have drawn admirers from abroad with a host of scouts understood to have been keeping a close eye on the Colombian international in recent months.
Several Premier League clubs are among those repoertedly interested, with Arsenal and Tottenham believed to have made formal enquiries for the forward while Manchester United have also shown a keen interest.
However, the Daily Star claim that Liverpool are now considered the favourites to sign Cuadrado with Brendan Rodgers eager to add the €24m (£20m) rated ace to his squad this summer as he looks to build a group of players capable of competing not only domestically, but also in the Champions League next season.
One potential stumbling block is the fact that Cuadrado is co-owned by Fiorentina and Udinese but the newspaper suggests that both clubs are willing to cash-in at the end of the season and despite interest from the likes of Bayern Munich and Juventus, the players preferred destination is understood to be England.
Cuadrado is a pacey attacker who predominantly plays on the wing but can also play through the middle, so his versatility is likely to appeal to the likes of Rodgers, Wenger, Sherwood and Moyes.
It looks like the quartet are going to be battling it out for his signature this summer but they might want to try and get a deal done early, ad Cuadrado is expected to start for Colombian at the World Cup and a good showing in Brazil will not only increase the competition for his signature, but will also drive his asking price up.
