Agent Confirms Arsenal ‘Strongly’ Interested In £7m Bundesliga Ace
The agent of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Sebastian Jung has confirmed Arsenal are showing a strong interest in signing the £7m-rated right-back this summer
As we approach the business end of the season clubs are starting to make plans for the summer transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Gooner Mac brings us news of Arsenal’s interest in Sebastian Jung.
The agent of Eintracht Frankfurt defender Sebastian Jung has confirmed that Arsenal are showing a strong interest in signing the £7m-rated right-back this summer, according to the Metro.
With Bacary Sagna’s contract extension talks still in deadlock and the experienced Frenchman looking increasingly likely to leave when his deal expires in the summer , it’s understandable that Arsene Wenger is on the look out for potential replacements.
Several names have been linked with a move to the Emirates in recent months including the likes of Lukasz Piszczek and Daryl Janmaat, but it seems that Frankfurt’s Sebastian Jung has emerged as a key target for the Gunners boss.
The 23-year-old’s agent, Mino Grillo, has been quoted as saying that we are strongly on the players trail for this summer having sent scouts to watch him in action this season, while he also played down interest from the likes of Inter Milan, Roma and AC Milan.
“In England we know Arsenal are very strongly on his trail for the summer,’ said Mino Grillo.
‘They have had scouts watching him in the Bundesliga. There is was interest in the past from Inter, Roma and Milan, but no recent contact.’ Grillo is quoted as saying by the Metro.
The Metro are reporting that Arsenal will open formal talks with Frankfurt at the end of the season with the hope of sealing a £7m deal for the full-back, but plans could change if Sagna agrees a contract extension in the meantime.
I’d personally love the French international to stay at the club as he’s been one of our best servants over the past six years and there aren’t many more accomplished right-backs around than him. However, if he does leave and we need to bring someone else in, Jung could be an interesting option.
My preferred target would be Seamus Coleman but I have a feeling it would be difficult, and expensive, to lure him away from Everton, while Toulouse Serge Aurier is another right-back who I think would do well at Arsenal, but we’ll have to see how things develop over the next few weeks.
