Man Utd Given Boost In Pursuit Of €35m Attacker
Man Utd have been given a boost in their pursuit of Marco Reus with the €35m-rated attacker refusing to rule out a move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are given a boost in their pursuit of Marco Reus.
Manchester United have been given a boost in their pursuit of Marco Reus with the €35m-rated attacker refusing to rule out a possible move away from Borussia Dortmund this summer, according to reports.
Reus has continued his excellent form since moving to Dortmund from Borussia Monchengladbach in 2012 and has scored an impressive 42 goals in his 88 appearances for the club.
The 24-year-old has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in recent weeks with manager-in-waiting Louis van Gaal understood to have made the German international one of his top targets once he officially takes over the reigns at Old Trafford.
Dortmund are understandably desperate to hang on to the attacking midfielder and are hoping that his love for the club will be enough to persuade him to stay, as he has a €35m (£29m) buy-out clause in his contract and there would be little they could do to prevent him leaving should a club like United agree to meet that figure.
Reus was born in Dortmund and grew up an avid fan of the club but he’s now given United hope that he could be open to a summer move after refusing to rule out leaving his boyhood team at the end of the season, hinting he’s ready to contemplate his future after a second trophyless season at the Westfalenstadion.
“Every player only has one career and wants to get the best out of it.”
“You have to decide what’s best for you. We’ll see about that.” Reus is quoted as saying by the Mail.
‘Every footballer has his goals and is dreaming of winning titles. At the end of your career, you want to be able to say that you’ve won many titles.’
United have endured a disastrous season and there’s little doubt that whoever comes in to replace David Moyes on a permanent basis has a huge rebuilding job ahead of them this summer.
Defence is likely to be a priority, as Nemanja Vidic is leaving and the likes of Patrice Evra and Rio Ferdinand could follow, but freshening things up in attack is also likely to be on the agenda and a player like Reus would be an excellent addition.

The German is one of the most exciting young attackers in European football and would add a huge threat to United’s arsenal if they could manage to lure him away from Dortmund this summer. His supposed £29m buy-out clause would represent something of a bargain for a player of his ability as well, so I’m sure United fans are pleased to hear him question his future ahead of what could be a busy summer.
