Chelsea and Adidas have today launched the new away strip to be worn during the 2014/15 season and the club have reverted back to the iconic bright yellow.
The new shirt has been inspired by previous yellow kits from the clubs past and I’m sure many Chelsea fans of the older generation will have fond memories of the likes of Peter Osgood in the 1960s and 1970s wearing a yellow away kit, while the younger fans will recall Gianfranco Zola in the 1990s dazzling us all in a yellow shirt. The most recent season Chelsea donned a yellow away kit was in 2009, when the club lifted the FA Cup.
The strip is simple in design, with plane yellow socks, shorts and shirt finished off with blue detailing, with the Samsung logo, Adidas stripes and collar all done in Chelsea Blue, while the goalkeeper strip will be bright red.
The kit is manufactured using the latest adiZero lightweight technology making it the lightest Chelsea away shirt ever produced, and I’m sure Blues fans will be hoping to see a few big-money summer signings wearing the kit next season.
The kit arrives in stores on 4 June 2014, but can be pre-ordered at www.chelseafc.com now. Here are some more images of the new official away strip:
