Chelsea Make Enquiry For Argentinean Striker
Chelsea have asked about the availability of Argentinean forward Ezequiel Lavezzi during negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over four of the Blues key man.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Chelsea are linked with Ezequiel Lavezzi.
Chelsea have asked about the availability of forward Ezequiel Lavezzi during negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain over four of the Blues key man, according to reports today.
Big-spending PSG have already agreed a reported £40m+ deal with Chelsea for the signing of defender David Luiz and it’s understood the Ligue 1 champions are also showing a keen interest in Eden Hazard, Oscar and goalkeeper Petr Cech.
It remains to be seen how successful the French outfit will be in their pursuit of the other trio but the Daily Mail claim that during the negotiations, Chelsea have made an enquiry over the availability of Lavezzi and asked PSG to name their price for the striker.
The Argentinean hitman has become unsettled at the Parc des Princes and the newspaper suggests the 29-year-old is keen to leave France and play in a more competitive league, and it seems Chelsea are ready to offer him that opportunity in the Premiership.
Jose Mourinho has made no secret of his desire to strengthen his strike-force this summer and the Mail believes the Portuguese coach wants Lavezzi to come in alongside main target Diego Costa this summer to form a new-look attack next season.
Costa is widely expected to complete his £32m move to Stamford Bridge over the coming weeks and Lavezzi would be a useful addition if Chelsea could also get a deal agreed for the South American. Although up front is his favoured position, he’s capable of playing anywhere across the front three positions so would give Mourinho plenty of options in attack next season.
Lavezzi chipped in with 12 goals and 10 assists last season despite spending much of his time out wide and he was not always a regular in the starting eleven, so he’d certainly provide some added threat to the Blues front-line if they were able to strike a deal with PSG.
Chelsea fans will be hoping any potential agreement doesn’t involve Eden Hazard going in the opposite direction with growing speculation suggestion PSG are pushing hard to lure the Belgian to France this summer, with Laurent Blanc admitting his admiration for the 23-year-old last week.

I personally don’t see Chelsea allowing Hazard to leave but nobody expected Mourinho to sell both Juan Mata and David Luiz inside the last six months, so you I suppose you just never know in football.
