Liverpool Opens Talks Over €15m Deal For Man Utd Target
Liverpool have opened formal talks with Ajax over a potential €15million deal for Manchester United target Daley Blind, according to newspaper reports.
As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool are linked with Man Utd target Daley Blind.
Liverpool have opened formal talks with Ajax over a potential €15m deal for Manchester United target Daley Blind, according to reports.
Blind has been with Ajax his entire career having joined the club as an eight year old and came through the youth ranks before breaking into the first team set up in 2012.
The 23-year-old initially established himself as a left-back but Frank de Boer converted him to a defensive midfielder last season and he has blossomed in that role over the past 12 months, helping the Dutch giants to yet another Eredivisie title last season.
New Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal is clearly a huge fan as he’s started the youngster in Holland’s opening two World Cup games and reports earlier this week suggested the experienced coach was considering taking him with him to Old Trafford this summer if the player continued to impress on the big stage.
However, it appears United will face stiff competition for his signature as Liverpool are now also in the race for Blind’s signature and the Merseysiders could even be considered favourites as the Metro claim they have opened talks with Ajax over a potential €15m (£12m) deal with chief Ian Ayre making the clubs interest perfectly clear.
Brendan Rodgers is on the look out for another left-back this summer so he may view Blind as the man to offer competition to Jose Enrique and Jon Flanagan next season. Although with the Dutch international able to play in midfield or even centre-back, Rodgers may have another position in mind for him.

Either way, I’m sure Blind’s versatility will appeal greatly as he’ll give the Northern Irishman plenty of options if he does end up making the move to Anfield this summer. However, any potential deal is likely to have to wait until after the World Cup, which could give the likes of Manchester United time to make their interest official.
