As we approach the opening of the summer window clubs will be intensifying their efforts in the transfer market so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, news that will interest Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United fans.
Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Liverpool have received a blow with reports claiming that Barcelona and Bayern Munich have opened talks over a swap deal involving Alexis Sanchez and Toni Kroos.
The Express cite reports coming out of Italy that claim Barca have made contact with Bayern to put forward the player-swap-deal idea as they look to bring in a replacement for Cesc Fabregas – who joined Chelsea earlier this summer.
The newspaper suggests the Catalans have already sent out a delegation to Brazil to hold formal talks in the hope of tempting Pep Guardiola to part company with Kroos in exchange for the Chilean attacker.
Kroos is in the final year of his contract at the Allianz Arena and talks over an extension have hit a dead end, with Bayern refusing to meet the German international’s wage demands.
The Bundesliga champions hinted earlier in the summer they would may be prepared to hold the 24-year-old to the final year of his deal but they may now be willing to part company now that they could get a player like Sanchez in exchange.
The news will come as a huge blow to several Premier League teams who have had their eye on both players. Chelsea and Manchester United have been strongly linked with Kroos over the past few weeks with the duo understood to have lined-up big-money contract offers for the midfielder.
Arsenal and Liverpool on the other hand have been chasing Sanchez and speculation has claimed that both Brendan Rodgers and Arsene Wenger have held talks with the Chilean international’s agent about a possible switch to England.
