Man Utd Agree €10m Deal As Van Gaal Eyes Double Swoop

The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Stefan de Vrij.
Manchester United have agreed a €10m deal with Feyenoord to sign highly-rated centre-back Stefan de Vrji as Louis van Gaal continues to reshape his squad at Old Trafford, according to reports.
De Vrji has been with Feyenoord his entire career having joined the club as a 10-year-old back in 1992, and he’s established himself as a first team regular after making his debut in 2009.
His impressive form at club level has seen him force his way in to the Dutch squad and he’s been excellent so far at this summers World Cup, with new United boss Louis van Gaal selecting him in all four games en route to the quarter finals.
It looks as though the pair could be working together on a full-time basis next season as the Metro are claiming that United have now agreed a €10m deal to sign the 22-year-old this summer.
The newspaper suggests that De Vrji was on the verge of joining Italian outfit Lazio but van Gaal has used his influence to hijack that deal and persuaded the defender to make the move to Old Trafford instead.
With both Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand leaving this summer, United certainly have to strengthen their defence and de Vrji would be an excellent addition. Obviously it helps that he knows van Gaal well already and he could be joined by one of his current team-mates as the Daily Mail are reporting that United have also made an enquiry to Feyenoord for fellow Dutchman Daryl Janmaat.
The 24-year-old has also been impressing over in Brazil and with right-back a problem area for United last season due to the on-going injury problems for Rafa Da Silva, it looks as though the Red Devils have identified Janmaat as another possible new recruit.

However, the Mail say that any deal is some way off, so van Gaal still has some work to do to complete a double swoop on Feyenoord. United have been busy this past week tying up deals for Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera, and it looks as though they are set to add at least one more new signing to their ranks with the de Vrji deal likely to be concluded after the World Cup.
