Man Utd In ‘Advanced Talks’ Over €95m Double Deal
Manchester United in advanced talks over a sensational €95m double swoop for Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd in talks over huge double deal.
Manchester United in advanced talks over a sensational €95m double swoop for Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, according to reports today.
Despite not officially being in the job yet, Louis Van Gaal has not wasted any time in trying to rebuild his new United squad and with the Dutchman leaving negotiations to Ed Woodward, the club have already splashed out big on the signings of Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera.
It doesn’t seem like the spending is going to relent any time soon as the Metro are reporting that United are now in advanced negotiations over a stunning €95m (£75m) double swoop for two of Europe’s most wanted players.
First up and the newspaper claims that the Red Devils are pushing to secure a €57m (£45m) deal for Real Madrid attacker Angel Di Maria. The Argentinean international has been hotly tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer, despite enjoying an excellent season where he helped the club land their tenth Champions League trophy.
Di Maria is understood to have asked for a move this summer after growing increasingly frustrated at having to play second fiddle to Cristiano Ronaldo, and with Madrid believed to be willing to cash-in to help fund a move for James Rodriguez, it appears United are working hard to try and lure the 26-year-old to Old Trafford.
The second player on van Gaal’s radar is Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels, and the Metro suggest that United chiefs are also in talks with the German giants and remain hopeful of tying up a deal that could reach €38m (£30m).
With both Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic leaving this summer, an experienced central defender was always going to be a priority and Hummels would be a superb addition if United could pull it off.
The 25-year-old has emerged as one of the best defenders in Europe over the past few years after playing a key role in leading Dortmund to successive Bundesliga titles in 2001 and 2012, while he’s also been a rock at the back for the German squad which eased into the final of the World Cup last night with a devastating 7-1 win over Brazil.

I’m sure United fans will be keeping everything crossed that the club are able to get these two deals over the line as they will put themselves right back in the mix for the Premier League title if they could land both Di Maria and Hummels in the coming weeks.
