Man Utd Line-Up €38m Bid After Receiving Boost In Midfielder Pursuit
Manchester United are lining up a €38m bid for Arturo Vidal after learning that Juventus have to sell one of their key assets this summer to balance the books
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd receive a boost in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United are lining up a €38m bid for Arturo Vidal after learning that Juventus have to sell one of their key assets this summer to balance the books, according to reports today.
New United boss Louis van Gaal may not officially be in the job yet but he’s still been pulling the strings while away at the World Cup and is understood to be keen on adding another midfielder to his squad to play alongside Ander Herrera, and Vidal appears to be a key target.
The deposed champions have now received a boost with the Mirror claiming that Juve president, Andrea Agnelli, has has made it clear the club need to cash-in on one of their star players to ease their financial concerns, and Vidal or Paul Pogba are the most likely to be sacrificed.
United received just £800,000 in compensation when Pogba joined the Serie A champions two years ago but the newspaper suggests that Juventus value the Frenchman at £60m – which may price him out of a move away this summer.
That would leave Vidal as the most realistic of the two to be sold and the Mirror claims that United chiefs are now eyeing a €38m (£30m) bid which they feel would prove difficult for the Turin club to turn down.
The two clubs have been in discussions over Patrice Evra this week and it’s a distinct possibility that Vidal could have come up during those talks, but we’ll have to wait and see whether a deal can be agreed to bring the Chilean international to Old Trafford.
It would certainly be a major coup if United could somehow pull it off, but they’d need to convince the 27-year-old to make the switch to Manchester and sacrifice playing in Europe for at least the next 12 months, which could be difficult.

United have already spent some serious money on Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer but the spending doesn’t look like it’s going to stop there as van Gaal tries to rebuild a squad that finished seventh last season, and I’m sure fans would be ecstatic if they were able to lure a player of Vidal’s quality to the club this summer.
