Man Utd Close In On €50m Attacker After Agreeing Personal Terms Of €9.9m-Per-Season
Man Utd are closing in on the signing of Angel Di Maria with reports claiming they have agreed terms with the attacker over a deal worth around €9.9m per season
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd edge closer to signing Angel Di Maria.
Manchester United appear to be closing in on the signing of Angel Di Maria with reports today claiming they have now agreed terms with the attacker over a deal worth around €9.9m per season.
Di Maria has just come off the back of an excellent season in Spain where his 11 goals and 26 assists helped Real Madrid land their 10th Champions League trophy with victory over Atletico Madrid back in May.
However, despite those impressive figures, Madrid bosses are understood to have called off further contract extension talks as they reluctant to meet his wage demands of €190,000-a-week, which works out at around €9.9m-per-season.
Reports have suggested that the La Liga giants are now ready to cash-in on the Argentinean international in order to help raise funds for a big-money move for James Rodriguez, and Man Utd have supposedly been in talks about taking him to Old Trafford.
It seems a potential move has now taken a huge step closer to completion with the Daily Star citing reports coming from Spanish newspaper Marca who claim the former champions have held talks with Di Maria’s representatives where they agreed to match the 26-year-old’s wage demands.
If true, all that remains is for United to agree a fee with Madrid, however, the newspaper suggests that the two clubs are still some way apart in their valuations with United only willing to pay around €38m (£30m), while Madrid are holding out for €50m (£40m).
If a compromise can be found, then Louis van Gaal will have pulled off a major coup and landed his third major signing of the summer with Di Maria joining Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw in making the move to Manchester.

Van Gaal is set to officially take control at United next week after his Holland side take on Brazil in tomorrow nights World Cup third-placed plat-off, and it would be a huge boost if he could get a player of Di Maria’s quality on board this summer with the Dutch coach having to rebuild a squad that finished seventh in the Premier League last season.
