Man Utd line-up £40m midfielder bid & will tempt player with £5.3m-a-year contract
Manchester United are preparing a final offer worth £40m (€50m) for Arturo Vidal and will tempt the Juventus midfielder with a contract worth £5.3m-per-season
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Manchester United are ready to make a last bid for Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United are preparing a final offer worth £40m (€50m) for Arturo Vidal and will tempt the Juventus midfielder with a contract worth £5.3m-per-season, according to reports in Italy.
United have been strongly linked with Vidal this summer with new boss Louis van Gaal supposedly making the Chilean midfielder one of his key targets as he looks to reshape his squad at Old Trafford.
So far, United’s attempts to lure the 27-year-old away from Turin have been met with stubborn resistance from Juventus with the Serie A champions adamant they don’t want to lose the influential midfielder.
However, TuttoSport claim today that United are ready to test the Italians resolve with a mammoth £40m (€50m ) bid and will offer Vidal a long-term deal worth £5.3m-per-season to make the move to Manchester.
It remains to be seen whether such a bid will persuade Juve to cash-in but the report suggests that while the Italians are publicly dismissing the idea of selling, privately they have conceded that they may sell if a tempting enough offer is tabled to help ease the clubs financial difficulties.
TuttoSport also state that Juventus won’t force Vidal to stay if he makes is clear he wants to leave, and while that is yet to happen, it will offer United some hope that a deal can be done as it’s another sign that the Serie A club aren’t completely intent on hanging onto the player this summer.
United have already brought in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw this summer but midfield is an area that van Gaal is expected to further strengthen, particularly after the news that Michael Carrick is out for up to three months, and Vidal would obviously be an excellent addition to the squad.

The Chilean international is one of the best all-round midfielders in Europe and would not only bring a physical presence to the United side, but he’s also a potent threat in front of goal, so I’m sure United fans are desperate to see their club strike a deal to bring him to Old Trafford this summer.
Will it happen? We’ll have to wait and see….
