Man Utd Dealt Huge Blow As £40m Key Target Rules Out Move
Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after the midfielder insisted he wont be moving to Old Trafford this summer
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are dealt a blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United have been dealt a huge blow in their pursuit of Arturo Vidal after the midfielder insisted he wont be moving to Old Trafford this summer, according to reports.
The Chilean international has been strongly linked with a move to United this summer with new boss Louis van Gaal seemingly identifying the Juventus ace as a key target for his new-look side.
The Serie A champions have so far resisted any attempts to lure their star man away from Turin but reports earlier this week suggested United were lining-up a final £40m bid and were prepared to offer the midfielder with a contract worth over £5m-per-season.
That kind of money may have proven tempting for Juve considering their precarious financial position. However, it seems Vidal has already ruled out making a move to Old Trafford.
Speaking to reporters last night, the 27-year-old did concede he was due to hold talks with new boss Massimiliano Allegri once he returns from his post World Cup break on Monday, but insists he won’t be joining Manchester United this summer.
“I’m still on holiday at the moment. Can I say I’m staying at Juve? I don’t know. On Monday I’ll talk to Allegri then we’ll see.
“I’m happy here. I’m calm. I believe Juve fans can be too. I still haven’t spoken to Allegri or my team-mates.

The news will obviously come as a huge blow to United as van Gaal was understood to be keen on pairing Vidal alongside summer signing Ander Herrera in the middle of the park next season.
The Chilean has been a key player for Juve over the past three years, scoring 28 goals in 95 appearances to help the club to three successive Serie A titles and his impressive form has seen him emerge as one of the best all-round midfielders in the world.

There’s no doubt he would have been a sensational signing for United had they been able to pull it off, but for now, it looks like a deal is off the table. However, things can change quickly in football so I don’t think United fans should give up hope just yet. Money talks and if they can agree a deal with Juve, I’m sure they would be confident of being able to persuade Vidal to make the move to Old Trafford, so we’ll just have to see how things develop over the coming weeks.
