Man Utd Line-Up €57m Formal Offer As Attacker Issues ‘Come-And-Get-Me-Plea’
Angel Di Maria has issued a ‘come-and-get-me-plea’ to Manchester United as Louis van Gaal gets set to table a formal €57m offer for the Real Madrid attacker
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are set to bid for Angel Di Maria.
Angel Di Maria has issued a ‘come-and-get-me-plea’ to Manchester United as Louis van Gaal gets prepared to table a formal €57m offer for the Real Madrid attacker, according to reports.
Di Maria has been widely tipped to leave the Bernabeu this summer and fresh speculation over the weekend suggested the Argentinean international has asked to leave due to concerns over his place in the team following the arrivals of James Rodriguez and Toni Kroos.
Madrid are understood to be open to the idea of cashing-in on the winger and Manchester United have been strongly linked with a move for the player in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal continues to try and re-shape his squad after being named as David Moyes permanent replacement.
Paris Saint-Germain have also been touted as a potential destination but the Daily Star claim that Di Maria has now sounded out United after grown increasingly frustrated with the Ligue 1 side as they continue to drag their heels trying to agree a year-long loan deal.
The French champions are reluctant to go ahead with another big-money deal this summer due to concerns over meeting FIFA’s Financial Fair Play guidelines, and it seems their inability to close the deal could now see the player head to Old Trafford.
The newspaper suggests that Di Maria wants United to come forward with a formal offer and it appears he won’t have to wait long as the Express are reporting that Louis van Gaal is set to sanction a €57m (£45m) offer that will match Madrid’s asking price.
If, as expected, the European champions accept such a bid it will then be down to the player to negotiate terms and the report states that United are ready to double his current wages to compensate for the lack of Champions League football on offer.
Di Maria is likely to find such a wage hick difficult to resist, so we could see United about to pull off a major coup by luring the South American to Manchester this summer.
Van Gaal has already brought in Ander Herrera and Luke Shaw last month but the Dutchman isn’t expected to stop their and Di Maria could be one of several new additions before the start of the new season.

If he does end up making the move to Old Trafford, Di Maria will bring a huge amount of creativity to an already impressive United attack, with the winger chipping in with 36 goals and 87 assists during his 189 appearances for Madrid since joining from Benfica in 2010.
He would form a devastating attack alongside the likes of Robin van Persie, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata and with that kind of firepower at their disposal, you wouldn’t bet against United to be back challenging for the title again next year.
