Man Utd + Liverpool Dealt Midfielder Blow Despite ‘€80m Deal Agreed’ Reports
Man Utd and Liverpool have been told to forget about trying to sign Arturo Vidal this summer with Juventus insisting the midfielder is happy to stay in Turin
The summer transfer window is now open for business and it’s expected to be a busy few weeks as managers strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd and Liverpool are told to forget about signing Arturo Vidal.
Manchester United and Liverpool have been told to forget about trying to sign Arturo Vidal this summer after Juventus insisted the midfielder is happy to stay in Turin, according to reports.
The Chilean international’s future has been under the microscope this summer with United and Liverpool among the clubs strongly linked with a move for the powerful midfielder in recent weeks.
Reports on Tuesday morning emanating from Chile claimed that United were on the verge of beating their rivals to Vidal’s signature after reportedly agreeing a mammoth €80m fee with the Serie A champions while they had also supposedly secured a verbal agreement with the midfielder after offering him a lucrative contract worth around £270,000-a-week.
The news was understandably met with some skepticism among supporters as it seemed like a hugely inflated price to pay as well as wages that would make Vidal one of the best paid players on the planet. However, Chilean newspaper El Mecurcio were adamant a deal had been agreed.
Reports in Italy last week suggested that Juve wanted the 27-year-old’s future resolved before they head off on their pre-season tour of Asia and it appears they’ve now held talks with the player as new boss Massimiliano Allegri claimed today after training that he’s spoken to Vidal and the player is happy to stay at the club.
He told reporters:
“Vidal will stay here and he’s very happy about this,”
“I spoke with him about his fitness, we’re happy he will stay with us.” Allegri is quoted as saying by the Express
Obviously things can change quickly in football and I’m sure Juve would have to consider any sizeable offer put on the table for Vidal between now and the close of the transfer window, but as of now it appears the player will be staying in Italy this summer.

The news will come as a blow to United as Louis van Gaal had supposedly earmarked the Chilean to play alongside Ander Herrera in midfield in his new 3-5-2 formation, but it looks like the Dutchman is going to have to either make Juve an offer they can’t refuse or turn his attention to other targets.
