Manchester United In Talks Over Triple Swoop With Two More On LVG’s Radar
Man Utd are in talks over a triple swoop for Kevin Strootman, Daley Blind and Ron Vlaar while boss Louis van Gaal also wants Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Manchester United are in talks over a triple swoop.
Manchester United are in talks over a triple swoop for Kevin Strootman, Daley Blind and Ron Vlaar while boss Louis van Gaal is continuing to retain his interest in Arturo Vidal and Mats Hummels, according to reports.
United have already splashed out around £60m on Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera this summer but van Gaal still has plenty of funds available to make further additions to his squad and it looks like he’s already identified his targets.
The Daily Star cite reports from Marca that claim United are in negotiations over a possible triple swoop for Roma midfielder Kevin Strootman, Ajax defender Daley Blind and Aston Villa cetnre-back Ron Vlaar.
The newspaper suggests that van Gaal is keen on bringing in players he can trust and obviously the Dutchman knows all three players well from his time as Holland manager.
Strootman is a long-term target for United and they were linked with a move for the midfielder last summer before he opted for a switch to AS Roma. His time in Italy was going well until he sustained a knee injury back in March which the 24-year-old is still recovering from now.
With this serious injury in mind, it’s not clear whether United are in talks over a deal for Strootman now or perhaps for the winter window, as it would be difficult for him to pass a strict medical while he’s still undergoing his rehabilitation.
United have also been strongly linked with £17m-rated Blind in recent weeks after the 24-year-old impressed at the World Cup. He made his name as a left-back but is also capable of playing at centre-back and as a defensive midfielder, so it would be interesting to see where van Gaal plays him if he ends up making the move to Old Trafford.
Vlaar is a name that many should be familiar with as he’s been plying his trade in the Premier League with Aston Villa for two years and he was one of the stand-out defenders in this summers World Cup finals.
The 29-year-old has just one year remaining on his contract at Villa Park so he could be available at a reasonable price and he’d bring with him the vital Premier League experience that van Gaal could be looking for as he tries to replace Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic this summer.
So it looks like United could be set to bring in three Dutch internationals but the spending might not stop there as the Daily Star also claim that van Gaal is still interested in signing Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal and Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels.

Both players have been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer but as with any big-money deals, they are proving difficult to pull off so it remains to be seen whether the former champions will be able to get anything agreed for the highly sought-after duo.
The new season is fast approaching but we still have well over three weeks until the transfer window closes, and judging by this report, it looks like it’s going to be a busy few weeks at Old Trafford.
