The draw for the play off round of the Europa League has been conducted on Friday lunchtime and Tottenham Hotspur have been pitted against AEL Limassol.
After finishing sixth in the Premier League last season, Spurs knew they would have to face a two-legged play off to get into the group stages of the Europa League.
The North Londoners went into today’s draw seeded in Group 2 and were drawn to play AEL Limassol, who finished top of the Crypriot First division last season only to lose out to APOEL in a title decider.
Limassol dropped into the Europa League after losing to Zenit St Petersburg 3-1 on aggregate on Wednesday night, and Spurs should still be more than confident of seeing them off over two legs to reach the group stages.
The first leg will be away from home in Cyprus on the 21st August, before Mauricio Pochettino welcomes them to White Hart Lane for the return leg on the 28th.
