Manchester United Table Record €69m Bid For Argentinean Attacker
First up and the Express are reporting that Manchester United have returned to Real Madrid with a record €69m bid for want-away attacker Angel Di Maria.
The summer transfer window is now well under way and managers are working hard to strengthen their squads ahead of next season, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Manchester United have made a renewed bid for Angel Di Maria.
The Express are reporting that Manchester United have returned to Real Madrid with a club record €69m bid for want-away attacker Angel Di Maria.
The Argentinean international has been strongly linked with a move away from the Bernabeu in recent weeks with Madrid understood to be keen to get the player off the wage bill this summer after splashing out on Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
Di Maria is also believed to want out as he fears for his first team place following the arrivals of the the German and Colombian international’s, and both Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked in recent months.
A proposed switch to the Parc des Princes collapsed with the French champions president Nasser Al Khelaifi confirming they have pulled out of negotiations earlier this week.
“We discussed Angel Di Maria with Real Madrid. He was very expensive and we have stopped discussions.” Al Khelaifi is quoted as saying by the Express
There have been reports that PSG are ready to try and offload Ezequiel Lavezzi to raise extra funds and it appears this may have triggered United into action, as the Express claim that the former Premier League champions have now tabled a renewed €69m bid for Di Maria.
That kind of money is sure to tempt Madrid into a sale, and the newspaper also states that United will offer the attacker with a five-year deal worth around £120,000-a-week to make the move to Old Trafford.

Louis van Gaal has impressed during pre-season but he’s still expected to bring in a few more signings before the end of the month and Di Maria would be a sensational addition to the squad. He’s one of the most creative players in Europe and would add a whole new dimension to the United attack, but we’ll have to wait and see whether they’ll be able to get the deal done or if PSG renew their interest to scupper their hopes.
