Madrid Give Di Maria Permission To Fly To UK For Man Utd Talks Ahead Of €62m Move
Real Madrid have given Angel Di Maria permission to fly to the UK to hold talks with Manchester United about a potential €62m (£50m) move to Old Trafford.
The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd close in on Real Madrid’s Angel Di Maria.
Real Madrid have given Angel Di Maria permission to fly to the UK to hold talks with Manchester United about a potential €62m move to Old Trafford, according to reports.
Di Maria’s future at the Bernabeu has been speculated about all summer with his place in the Spaniard’s starting eleven under serious threat following the arrivals of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez.
Man Utd and Paris Saint-Germain have been strongly linked with the Argentinean attacker in recent weeks but reports suggest that the Red Devils are now in the driving seat for his signature after the Ligue 1 champions pulled out of negotiations last week.
Carlo Ancelotti admitted on Monday that he wasn’t sure whether Di Maria would still be at the club when the transfer window closes at the end of the month, and now fresh reports suggest that is unlikely after Madrid bosses told the player he is free to travel to Manchester to discuss personal terms with United.
The Daily Star claim that Madrid have made it clear the 26-year-old can leave as long as United pay their €62m (£50m) asking price and Louis van Gaal has supposedly agreed to meet that figure, with the club setting aside £100m to make the deal happen.
As well as the £50m transfer fee, the newspaper states that United have earmarked a further £50m for Di Maria’s lucrative five-year contract, agents fees and signing on fees, making it a HUGE outlay for the former Premier League champions.
The news comes shortly after Di Maria’s Argentinean team-mate Marco Rojo was quoted as saying that he’s agreed to move to Old Trafford, so it looks like United could be set to seal at least two big-money deals before the window slams shut.
Van Gaal has already brought in Luke Shaw and Ander Herrera but his lack of strength and depth was badly exposed during their opening day 2-1 defeat to Swansea, so an addition with the quality of Di Maria would be welcomed with open arms by the Old Trafford faithful.

We’ll have to see how things develop over the coming days but I have a sneaky feeling PSG’s interest may not have ended and wouldn’t be surprised if they make a late push for Di Maria’s signature if they can offload the likes of Ezequiel Lavezzi, so United may want to try and push through a deal before the French outfit renew their interest.
