Manchester City take on Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium tonight for this seasons first big clash between two of the early season title favourites.
Both teams picked up victories on the opening weekend with City beating Newcastle 2-0 away while the Reds edged past Southampton 2-1 at Anfield, so neither side will want to lose any ground tonight.
Brendan Rodgers won’t be able to call upon new striker Mario Balotelli just yet as he’s not been registered in time so Daniel Sturridge continues up front with Raheem Sterling and Philipe Coutinho in support.
As for Man City, Sergio Aguero is still not deemed fit enough to start so Steven Jovetic joins Edin Dzeko in attack. Pablo Zabaleta returns at right-back while Fernando is preferred to Fernandinho in midfield.
Here are the confirmed line-ups for the game:
Man City
Hart, Zabaleta, Demichelis, Kompany, Clichy, Fernando, Nasri, Toure, Silva, Jovetic, Dzeko
Subs: Caballero, Sagna, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Milner, Navas, Aguero
Liverpool
Mignolet, Johnson, Lovren, Skrtel, Moreno, Gerrard, Coutinho, Henderson, Allen, Sterling, Sturridge
Subs: Jones, Manquillo, Sakho, Toure, Can, Markovic, Lambert
