Man Utd Prepare Late Push To Finally Land €43m-Rated Target
Louis van Gaal hopes to finally land Arturo Vidal before the close of the transfer window with Man Utd now preparing an offer for the €43m-rated midfielder
The summer transfer window is now reaching its climax and managers are working hard to make some last minute additions to their squad, so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd hope to finally land Juventus ace Arturo Vidal.
Louis van Gaal hopes to finally land Arturo Vidal before the close of the transfer window with Manchester United preparing to make a late push to sign the €43m-rated midfielder, according to the Independent.
Vidal has been on United’s radar all summer with widespread speculation suggesting that the Chilean international could be heading to Old Trafford as part of a major squad overhaul following a disastrous campaign last year.
United are on the verge of tying up a record deal to sign Angel Di Maria from Real Madrid and the Independent claim that Louis van Gaal is keen to continue his spending spree and has made Vidal his top target as he looks to add some steel to his light-weight midfield.
The newspaper suggests that despite Juventus publicly insisting they wont sell the midfielder, United chiefs feel the Serie A champions are in fact trying to manufacture a market for the player and are very-much willing to do business at the right price.
While United have so far baulked at the Italians €43m (£34m) asking price, the report states that the Red Devils are now more willing to match that figure but they continue to have concerns over Vidal’s fitness due to his troublesome right knee.
The 27-year-old was forced to play through the pain during the closing stages of last season before eventually undergoing surgery, and worryingly for United, he was rushed back early to play for Chile at the World Cup. It was clear for all to see that he wasn’t 100% fit and was substituted in every game he played over in Brazil.
The Independent claim that although United may now be willing to pay around €43m (£34m) to Juventus, they will offset the risk by offering Vidal a highly incentivised appearance-based contract as well as putting the midfielder through a rigorous medical.
While there appears to be a real desire to take Vidal to Old Trafford before the window shuts on September 1st, a deal is still a long way from completion and it’s believed that van Gaal has lined-up potential moves for AC Milan’s Nigel de Jong and Ajax utility man Daley Blind as back-up options.

It’s certainly gearing up to be an exciting final few days of the transfer window and I wouldn’t be surprised to see United make at least one more big move once the deal Di Maria is confirmed. It’s difficult to know if they will get their hands on Vidal as the deal is complicated by Juve’s high asking price and the concerns over the players fitness, but he would be an excellent addition if they could pull it off.
