[Tweets] Gerrard, Sturridge, Sterling + More React On Twitter To Dramatic Boro Win
The likes of Steven Gerrard, Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling reacted on Twitter after Liverpool’s dramatic shootout victory over Middlesbrough.
Liverpool edged into the fourth round of the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night with a dramatic penalty shootout victory over Middlesbrough at Anfield.
The hosts took the lead when youngster Jordan Rossiter scored 10 minutes into his debut before Boro levelled via an Adam Reach header midway through the second half.
Liverpool looked to have won it in extra-time when substitute Suso fired home a loose ball but Patrick Bamford forced penalties after he made it 2-2 from the spot after Kolo Toure had given away a last second penalty.
It was to be a dramatic shootout as Liverpool eventually ran-out 14-13 victors after Adomah had missed his spot kick, but it was a memorable night for youngsters like Rossiter and Williams as they got to score penalties in front of the Kop.
After the game, several players took to Twitter to react to the victory with Daniel Sturridge, Raheem Sterling, Lucas Leiva, Jose Enrique and Jordan Willians all having their say on the match, while captain Steven Gerrard also praised the clubs young stars on Instagram, posting a photo of Rossiter after scoring his goal with a message saying “Great to see the young lads doing well last night #academy”.
Here is what the players had to say:
