Man Utd Set To Table €65m Bid Ahead Of Double January Swoop
Manchester United are set to table a mammoth €65m (£51m) offer to Juventus to try and sign Arturo Vidal and Angelo Ogbonna this January, according to reports.
The summer transfer window may be closed but managers are already thinking ahead to future transfer windows so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Man Utd are linked with a double swoop on Juventus.
Manchester United are set to table a mammoth €65m (£51m) offer to Juventus to try and sign Arturo Vidal and Angelo Ogbonna this January, according to reports.
United have just undergone a summer of rebuilding with new boss Louis van Gaal splashing over £150m on a number of big-money signings including the likes of Angel Di Maria, Radamel Falcao, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Daley Blind.
However, it doesn’t look like the spending is going to stop anytime soon as it’s claimed the Dutchman will be handed another sizeable transfer kitty for the winter window and it appears he’s eyeing a double swoop on the Italian champions.
The Metro are citing reports coming out of Italy that suggest United are set to test Juve’s resolve with an offer worth €65m (£51m) for midfielder Arturo Vidal and centre-back Angelo Ogbonna.
The newspaper states that United chiefs are already working on the deal and would ideally like things agreed in principal over the coming weeks ahead of the pair’s arrival when the transfer window reopens in January.
Despite their heavy investment in the summer, the former Premier League champions have started the season poorly and they have already been exposed in defence and midfield after a spate of injuries left van Gaal short of options, so it’s no surprise they are looking to strengthen those areas.
Vidal was strongly linked with a move to Old Trafford over the summer but no deal could be agreed and it remains to be seen whether Juve would be willing to do business mid-season or if United will be forced to wait until next summer to try and lure him to England.
Ogbonna only moved to Juventus in the summer of 2013 after a hugely impressive spell at Torino but his time in Turin hasn’t gone according to plan, with the centre-back only managing 20 appearances in all competitions so far, so he could be easier to sign this winter.
