Liverpool ‘Expect’ To Beat Man Utd To £9m Midfielder Deal This January

Liverpool look set to fend off interest from rivals including Manchester United to secure the signature of highly-rated MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli.

The summer transfer window may be closed but managers are already thinking ahead to future transfer windows so we’ll bring you all the latest news and gossip. Today, Liverpool look set to beat Man Utd to Dele Alli.

Liverpool look set to fend off interest from a host of clubs including Manchester United to secure the signature of highly-rated MK Dons midfielder Dele Alli, according to reports.

The 18-year-old is one of the hottest properties outside of the Premier League after putting in a number of impressive displays for MK Dons since establishing himself as a first team regular last season.

Alli really announced himself with a Man of the Match performance during a 4-0 win over Manchester United in the Capital One Cup last month, and his potential has reportedly attracted interest from the likes United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Spurs.

However, it’s Liverpool who are believed to be firmly in pole position as the Daily Star are claiming that Brendan Rodgers expects to wrap up a deal worth around £9m in January before sending the teenager back to MK Dons on loan for the second half of the season.

Ali only recently signed a new long-term contract with the Dons, but boss Karl Robinson acknowledged last month that they are going to find it extremely difficult to keep hold of the player.

“It’s inevitable that there will be a time when we will have to let him [Alli] go, whether that be in January, next summer or whenever.” he’s quoted as saying by the Express.

It would be something of a coup if the Merseysiders were to fend off interest from United to win the race for the England Under-19 international’s signature as he’s certainly got a bright future ahead of him.
