Tottenham get back to Premier League action when they take on Newcastle United at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
Spurs warmed up for the game with a 5-1 thrashing of Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday night with Harry Kane and Erik Lamela steeling the headlines.
However, that result came off the back of a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad last weekend to leave them tenth in the table so Mauricio Pochettino will be keen to get their domestic season back on track with a win tomorrow.
Newcastle arrive in the capital after finally securing their first win of the season with a narrow 1-0 victory over newly-promoted Leicester at St James’ Park last week.
It’s a rare high note in whats been a disappointing campaign so far for Alan Pardew’s men and they head into the game sitting third from bottom in the league table so will want to keep up the momentum with another positive result tomorrow.
Team news
Tottenham will be without defender Federico Fazio after he was sent off against City last weekend. Jan Vertonghen is expected to partner Younes Kaboul at the back.
Kyle Walker continues to miss out with a pelvic injury so Eric Dier should start at right-back, while Nacer Bentaleb is a doubt with an ankle injury.
Harry Kane is pushing for a start after his hat-trick in midweek but he may have to make-do with a place among the subs.
Newcastle are sweating on the fitness of in-form striker Papiss Cisse as he struggles with a knee issue, but he’s expected to be passed fit to play.
Pardew will also hand late tests to Mike Williamson, Paul Dummett, Cheick Tiote and Sammy Ameobi, who are all carrying knocks.
Likely Line-Ups
Key Man
Christian Eriksen: The Dane’s form has dropped in recent weeks but he’s still the heartbeat of Tottenham’s attacking play when he’s playing well, so Newcastle will want to keep him quite tomorrow afternoon.
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-1 Newcastle: Spurs are yet to hit their stride in the league this season but I can see them having too much for Newcastle to handle on Sunday.
