Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge has offered a positive injury update on Twitter this evening as he closes in on a comeback from a calf injury.
Sturridge was sidelined for over a month after picking up a thigh injury while away with the England squad at the start of September.
The 26-year-old was on the verge of making his comeback for the trip to Queens Park Rangers earlier this month when he broke down in training on the 16th October with a calf injury.
The fresh problem was expected to keep Sturridge out for a further month but it looks like he’s well on the road to recovery as the striker has taken to his personal Twitter account this evening to tell fans he’s ‘feeling good’ and is getting ‘closer to full fitness each day’.
It’s not clear if Sturridge will be back earlier than expected but he’s certain to miss Liverpool’s upcoming games against Newcastle, Real Madrid and Chelsea before the next international break.
He will then have a further two weeks to work on his fitness after-which he’ll be expected to be back in contention when the Reds travel to the capital to take on Crystal Palace on the 23rd November.
Sturridge’s return can’t come soon enough for boss Brendan Rodgers as they’ve sorely missed his threat up front over the past two months with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert managing just two goals between them in all competitions during his absence.
Feeling good right now, closer to full fitness each day.
