Daniel Sturridge could be set to hand Liverpool a major injury boost after confirming he’s travelled to Spain with the rest of the squad ahead of tomorrow nights Champions League clash with Real Madrid.
Sturridge hasn’t featured for Liverpool since the 3-0 win over Tottenham at the end of August after initially picking up a thigh injury while away with the England squad during the international break at the start of September.
The 26-year-old was on the verge of making his comeback for the trip to Queens Park Rangers last month when he broke down in training on the 16th October with a calf injury and has been on the sidelines ever since.
However, after posting a positive update last week which suggested he was closing in on a comeback, Sturridge has now uploaded a ‘selfie’ to his Instagram account which confirms he’s travelled with the rest of the Liverpool squad to Madrid ahead of their clash at the Bernabeu tomorrow night.
It remains to be seen whether Sturridge will play any part in the game but you’d think Brendan Rodgers wouldn’t have taken him if there wasn’t a strong possibility he’ll be available at least from the bench.
The return of Sturridge will come as a major boost as the Reds have struggled without him over the past two months with Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert managing just two goals between them in all competitions during his absence.
