Liverpool will be looking to close the gap on the top four when they take on Swansea at Anfield on Monday. Here is the side I think Brendan Rodgers will select:
Goalkeeper: Rodgers will have to recall Simon Mignolet after Brad Jones picked up a thigh injury during Friday’s 1-0 win at Burnley.
Defence: Glen Johnson is out for a month with a groin injury so he’ll continue on the sidelines with Jon Flanagan and Dejan Lovren. Rodgers has played three at the back in recent weeks so we expect him to do likewise against Swansea but Kolo Toure is a doubt after being forced off against Burnley. Emre Can replaced the Ivorian and could start at the back again tomorrow.
Midfield: There’s a chance Steven Gerrard may be given a breather but I think Rodgers may stick with him for this game and possibly leave him out against Leicester on Thursday. Lucas Leiva is back in favour and should keep his place along with Jordan Henderson with Joe Allen still injured.
Attack: Mario Balotelli is back in contention but the Italian is likely to be named among the substitutes with Raheem Sterling continuing up front in the absence of Daniel Sturridge. Philippe Coutinho and Adam Lallana have cemented their places in the side recently with some impressive displays in attack and are expected to keep their places tomorrow.
Here is how I think we’ll see Liverpool line-up:
What do you think of the team and what eleven would you pick?
