Tottenham vs Chelsea Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Ups, Prediction & Betting
Tottenham take on Chelsea at White Hart Lane on New Year’s Day. Here’s a preview with team news, line-ups, predicted score and betting tips for the game.
Both Tottenham and Chelsea will be hoping to kick start the new year on a positive note when they lock horns at White Hart Lane on Thursday evening.
Spurs head into the game sitting in seventh position in the Premier League table following Sunday’s 0-0 draw with Manchester United.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s men are just two points off fourth place so will be hoping to close the gap with a win tomorrow.
Chelsea make the short trip to North London having been held to a 1-1 draw by Southampton on Sunday so will be keen to get back to winning ways and extend their three-point lead over second-placed Manchester City.
Team News
Spurs have no fresh injury worries to contend with but Pochettino could make a few changes to the side that drew with United in order to keep things fresh.
Nabil Bentaleb could come back in after missing that game through illness while Danny Rose, Erik Lamela and Kyle Walker are all in-line for recalls.
Chelsea also have virtually a fully-fit squad to choose from with Oscar expected to return from illness.
Jose Mourinho could also mix things up with Cesar Azpilicueta and Willian likely to come in with Filipe Luis and Andre Schurrle dropping out.
Likely Line-Ups
Predicted Score
Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea: Spurs have been grinding out results of late but Chelsea always seem to somehow get the result against them and I wouldn’t be surprised if they edged this game again tomorrow.
Betting Tips
Chelsea are the favourites tomorrow but new customers can get enhanced odds of 5-1 on Chelsea winning with Betfair. A 2-1 win for the Blues is on offer at 9/1 while our other tip is Eden Hazard to open the scoring at 7/1, and if we combine those two bets in a scorecast, then we get very tempting odds of 64/1. Surely that’s got to be worth a couple of quid!?
