Man Utd Preparing £5m Bid For Brazilian But Striker Favours Chelsea Move
Manchester United are preparing a £5m offer for Robert Kenedy and but the Fluminense forward has confirmed his desire to join Chelsea instead.
The January transfer window is now closed but that won’t stop the newspapers from speculating ahead of the summer so we’ll bring you all the news and gossip. Today, Manchester United are linked with Robert Kenedy….
Manchester United are preparing a £5m offer for Robert Kenedy and hope to beat Chelsea to the signature of the Fluminense forward this summer, according to reports.
Kenedy has emerged as one of the most exciting youth talents in Brazilian football since breaking into the Fluminense first team set up in 2013.
His potential has alerted several top clubs throughout Europe with Manchester United and Chelsea reportedly among those to have sent scouts to watch him in action recently.
The Premier League duo had representatives check-in on Kenedy during the 2015 South American Youth Football Championship and although he only managed to score one goal as Brazil finished fourth, it appears the scouts were still left impressed by what they had seen from the youngster.
The Express claim that United boss Louis van Gaal has already given the go-ahead to a £5m offer as soon as the transfer window re-opens at end of the season and they hope to get a deal agreed quickly before Chelsea make their own move for the 19-year-old.
However, United may have their work cut out in trying to persuade Kenedy to opt for Old Trafford as the youngster has previously indicated his desire to move to Stamford Bridge to link-up with compatriots such as Ramires and Oscar.
“Of course I am happy to play for Fluminense but it is my ambition to one day play in Europe”,
“I like Chelsea because of players like Oscar and Ramires. I like the whole team.” Kenedy is quoted as saying by the Express
Chelsea certainly have a large Brazilian core who would help Kenedy settle in London if he was to make the move to the Blues, with Filipe Luis and Willian also on the books along with Ramires and Oscar.
However, I’m sure this won’t deter United from doing their best to lure him to Manchester as the 20-time Premier League champions have Rafael da Silva in the squad, as well as fellow South American’s such as Marcos Rojo, Angel Di Maria and Radamel Falcao.

Kenedy certainly sounds like an exciting prospect for the future but he’s unlikely to have any impact on the first team if he does join Chelsea or United this summer as he won’t qualify for a work permit.
He’s also unlikely to cost in excess of £10m – which under proposed new guidelines would mean he doesn’t require a work permit – so the chances are he’ll be loaned out to a European club if he does come to the Premier League this summer.
