Tottenham vs Fiorentina Preview, Team News, Likely Line-Up & Predicted Score
Tottenham take on Fiorentina at White Hart Lane in the Europa League tonight. Here’s a preview with team news, likely line-up and predicted score.
Tottenham Hotspur will hope secure a first leg advantage when they take on Fiorentina at White Hart Lane in their Europa League last 32 tie tonight.
Spurs made it through the groups stages comfortably after finishing five points clear in second place in Group C and will be looking to go better than last season where they crashed out to Benfica in the last 16.
Mauricio Pochettino’s men warmed up for the game with a narrow 3-2 defeat to Liverpool last week so they’ll be desperate to get back on track this evening and put themselves in the driving seat ahead of next weeks return leg in Italy.
But they face a tricky test against a solid Fiorentina outfit who sit fourth in the Serie A table and head into the match with six wins and two draws from their previous eight games, so they won’t be coming to the capital to make up the numbers.
Team news
Mauricio Pochettino has no fresh injury worries to contend with so he’ll have a fully-fit squad to choose from.
We’ll have to wait and see whether the Argentine decides to mix things up and keep his players fresh as Spurs face a hectic period that sees them play six games in the next 17 days.
However, I think we’ll see a very strong team put out tonight with the likes of Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen, Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane all starting.
Ben Davies has been used frequently in the Europa League so he could start at left-back ahead of Danny Rose.
Fiorentina will have to make-do without Juan Cuadrado after his move to Chelsea while Federico Bernardeschi and Guiseppe Rossi are both sidelined with knee injuries.
Likely Line-Up
Predicted Score
Tottenham 2-0 Fiorentina: Spurs have a very good record against Italian opposition in Europe having progressed on each of the three times they’ve faced Serie A sides and I think they’ll be too strong at home for Fiorentina this time around too.
What team would you pick for the game and what’s your predicted score?
